This recipe holds so many fun family memories for me. Every year on the first weekend of October our family and pretty much the whole town enjoys the festivities of a little hidden gem in our town.

Ingredients
  • 6 Pounds Apples ,peeled cored and sliced
  • 3/4 Cup Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg
For the topping:
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Brown sugar
  • 1 Cup Oatmeal
  • 1 Cup All-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 1 Stick Unsalted butter ,softened
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 375 Degrees F. Set a 9x13 pan aside.
For the Base
  1. In a large bowl toss apples with all the the ingredients to coat.
  2. Spread into a 9x13 pan.
For the topping:
  1. In a medium bowl mix all of the dry ingredients together. Add the butter to the dry ingredients with a fork or pastry cutter to form crumbs.
  2. Spread over apple base.
  3. Bake on middle rack of oven for 1 hour.
  4. Remove and cool.
