You’re three ingredients away from enjoying a nice hot cup of Creamy Hot Chocolate! A rich and creamy chocolate Ganache is so easy to make and perfect for adding to hot milk or coffee to warm you up this winter!
I started making Ganache years ago as a decadent filling inside my moist and delicious Chocolate Cake. Since then I’ve discovered Ganache also makes an incredible Creamy Hot Chocolate when added to hot milk.
Last year I made Spiked Hot Chocolate {Truffles} to share with friends as a handmade holiday treat. Guess what those Truffles are made out of? Yup…Ganache! I love how versatile it is.
Despite its fancy French name Ganache is really not fancy at all and quite simple to make. There are a few different methods out there but I’ve always just used warmed heavy cream, chopped chocolate and sometimes a bit of liquor for added flavor.
Chambord adds a nice raspberry flavor so I use that one the most. You could also use any kind of non-alcoholic flavoring as well.
Today I just used heavy cream and semisweet chocolate chips to make this deliciously Creamy Hot Chocolate.
Once you make your Ganache just warm up some milk, stir in one or two spoonfuls of Ganache (depending on how chocolaty you like it) top it with mini marshmallows or whipped cream and enjoy!
Creamy Hot Chocolate {made with Ganache}
Ingredients
For the Ganache
- 1 , 12 Ounce bag Semi sweet or milk chocolate chips
- 1 Cup Heavy cream
Instructions
- In a small saucepan heat heavy cream over medium low heat. Once steam begins to rise from the cream and just before it begins to boil remove from heat and add chocolate. Let sit for about 1 minute so that the chocolate begins to soften. Then use a wire whisk or wooden spoon to stir. Keep stirring until cream and chocolate is well combined and smooth. Add desired amount to hot milk or stir in to coffee for a delicious mocha treat.

Another great way to serve Ganache is heated and poured over ice cream!
**Store your left over Ganache in the refrigerator for up to a week. Warm it up to soften or liquify it on the stovetop or in the microwave.
