The creamy and delicious flavor of Eggnog is added to this easy to make fudge for a melt in your mouth bite sized treat! Eggnog Fudge is the perfect festive sweet to share with friends and family this Holiday season!
Eggnog Fudge is the perfect handmade food for Holiday gift giving.
I love putting together an assortment of handmade food gifts to give to friends and family during Christmas. I’ve made different candies and cookies in past years. Last year I made Spiked Hot Chocolate Truffles that were a huge hit with everyone. This year I decided to make an assortment of different types of fudge. Starting with this easy to make Eggnog Fudge.
I loved the idea of the festive flavor of eggnog to add to my fudge plate and this recipe is an easier fudge recipe so it’s a good one to start with. If you’re new to making fudge a candy thermometer is really a must because making fudge from scratch is definitely a science.
I shared {Memere’s} Sucre a la Creme a couple months. It’s a Canadian style fudge that’s a bit more brittle and sugary than traditional fudge. It was Dad’s favorite childhood treat and my aunt would make it for him every Christmas without fail. It always put a big smile on his face and I’m convinced it was his favorite gift every year! So I decided to try spreading a little fudge joy myself this year!
Eggnog Fudge
Ingredients
- 2 Cups Granulated sugar
- ½ Cup Unsalted butter
- ¾ Cup Eggnog
- Pinch salt
- 11 Ounces White chocolate ,chopped
- ½ teaspoon Ground nutmeg + more for dusting
- 1 ,7 ounce jar Marshmallow creme
- 1 teaspoon Rum or rum flavored extract
Instructions
- Line an 8-inch square pan with aluminum foil allowing it to hang over the sides; set aside.
- In a medium, heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the sugar, butter, egg nog and salt over medium heat. Bring to a rolling boil, stirring constantly. Continue boiling 8 to 10 minutes, until a candy thermometer reaches 234 F (soft ball stage), stirring to prevent scorching; remove from heat.
- Using a wooden spoon or heat proof spatula **(not a metal spoon...it will change the temperature too quickly and may cause sugar crystals to form) stir in chopped white chocolate and nutmeg until smooth in consistency. Next, stir in marshmallow creme and rum. Beat until well blended and then pour into prepared pan. Sprinkle ground nutmeg on top. Let stand at room temperature until cooled, then refrigerate overnight until firm.
- After chilled and set cut into squares. Store in a covered container in the refrigerator.
