You can pretty much substitute it in for anything you would use a potato for. It’s great fried, mashed and can also be consumed raw as it is in this recipe for Jicama Slaw!
I was actually introduced to this recipe by my son. Jicama was a vegetable that I had never consumed before he made this Jicama Slaw for me!
Jicama Slaw has now become a must make addition to our Fish Taco toppings. It adds a delicious crunchiness and sweet and tangy flavor to them.
We love Jicama Slaw to add to our Fish Tacos but it’s versatility doesn’t stop there. Make it as a side dish to serve with any of your favorite fish dishes.
It makes a great side dish for your busy weeknight meal schedule. Make it ahead of time and then just pull it out of the fridge and serve. You have a quick and healthy dish ready to go on those busy weeknights!
The key to making this Jicama Slaw extra delicious, according to my son, is in the chopping. He really likes it when all the veggies are cut up nice and skinny. I tend to agree with him but that can be a bit tedious.
For that reason, I make sure I make it ahead of time when I have the time to spend thinly slicing all my veggies.
Pre making it also gives the honey lime dressing time to marinate the slaw and adds more flavor.
