Football season has arrived in full force. Fantasy teams have been chosen and all that’s left to do is plan your weekly football menu. What’s your favorite football party food? If you said wings then you’re going to love todays recipe for {Paul’s} Sweet and Spicy Chicken Wings!
One of the best parts about football season is all the amazing food we get to eat. We have come to know chili, chowder, chicken wings and dips as the four food groups of football. I love them all but these tasty wings might be my favorite.
When Paul and I met, his special chicken wing recipe was one of the first things he cooked for me. One bite and I was in love! Women love a man who can cook. It’s even better when what they cook tastes this delicious.
Even though the Pats couldn’t pull a win off for me this past weekend, {Paul’s } Sweet and Spicy Chicken Wings were there to make sure I didn’t get too down about it. It’s only the first game of the season so I’m confident the Pats will find their “recipe” for success this year. 😉
No matter which team you’ll be rooting for this season, these yummy wings should definitely be part of your football buffet.
{Paul’s} Sweet and Spicy Chicken Wings
Ingredients
- 2 Pounds Party wings or wingettes
- 1 1/2 Cups Honey barbecue sauce ,we used Sweet Baby Rays
- 1/4 - 1/2 Cups Tobassco or Franks Red Hot Sauce ,Depending on how spicy you like it
- 1/4 Cup Honey
- 3 Tablespoon Butter
- Salt, pepper and garlic powder to taste (I like to use coarse ground pepper)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375. Line a large cookie sheet with aluminum foil. (It will make clean up much easier).
- Rinse wings and pat dry. Arrange in a single layer on cookie sheet and season with salt, pepper and garlic powder on both sides.
- Bake wings on upper middle rack for 20 minutes.
- While wings are baking prepare sauce.
- In a small sauce pan over medium heat bring barbecue sauce, tobasco, honey and butter to a low boil. Stir to incorporate. Turn to low. Simmer for 2-3 minutes and remove from heat.
- Turn oven temperature to broil. Generously baste wings with sauce and return to oven for 10-15 minutes. You want your wings to crisp but not burn so check after 10 minutes and if they need more, put them back in for another 5 minutes. Once desired crispness is attained flip wings over and baste other side of wings put back in for another 10-15 minutes. Remove from oven and place on serving platter or bowl. I garnished mine with fresh chives.
