Strawberry Margarita Cheesecake {Trifle}

Layers of tender bits of angel food cake soaked with a tequila lime syrup and topped with macerated strawberries. Does that sound delicious? How about if we add a layer of tequila lime infused cheesecake! That’s the heavenly combination that creates my Strawberry Margarita Cheesecake {Trifle}.

Strawberry Margarita Cheesecake {Trifle}

Trifle cakes are a wonderful way to make an elegant dessert. They are quick and easy to make and they leave a lasting impression. This Strawberry Margarita Cheesecake {Trifle} is the perfect dessert for your next adult party but you can certainly leave out the tequila if you have little ones coming too.

Strawberry Margarita Cheesecake {Trifle}

Layers of tender bits of angel food cake soaked with a tequila lime syrup and topped with macerated strawberries. Does that sound delicious? How about if we add a layer of tequila lime infused cheesecake!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 Angel food prepared cakes from bakery
  • 1 pint Heavy whipping cream
  • 2 8 ounce packages Cream cheese softened
  • 3 Tablespoons Tequila
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • Zest from 1 lime
  • Juice from 1 lime
  • Green and yellow food coloring

For the macerated strawberries:

  • 1 Pound Strawberries stems remove and chopped
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar

For the tequila lime simple syrup:

  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 1/2 Cup Tequila
  • 1/2 Cup Lime juice

Instructions

For the strawberries:

  • Mix cut up strawberries with sugar. Cover and put in refrigerator for 1/2 - 1 hour.

For the tequila lime simple syrup:

  • Combine sugar and water in a sauce pan and stir together. Heat on medium heat until it comes to a low boil and sugar is completely dissolved.
  • Remove from heat and cool to room temperature.
  • Add tequila and lime juice.

For the Lime cheese cake:

  • In a large mixing bowl beat cream cheese on medium speed with electric mixer for 3 minutes.
  • In a small bowl mix sugar tequila and lime juice together.
  • Pour sugar mixture into cream cheese and mix for 2 minutes to incorporate.
  • Mix a drop each of green and yellow food coloring in cream cheese mixture and mix well to incorporate if desired.
  • In a separate bowl whip cream until it forms soft peaks.
  • Fold whipped cream and zest into the cream cheese mixture.

Put trifle together:

  • Layer pieces of angel food cake on bottom of trifle bowl to cover.
  • Pour 1/4 C of tequila syrup over cake.
  • Spoon a layer of macerated strawberries over cake.
  • Spoon half of the cheesecake mixture over strawberries.
  • Repeat.

Garnish:

  • strawberry, slices of lime and lime zest.
  • Sugar rim of serving dish with sanding sugar.
